Understanding Artificial Intelligence and its adoption into Wireless Networks

There is no shortage of information written on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning – in fact, the volume of information circulating at present is almost overwhelming! Besides, much of what is available is either overly complex or too high level to give an adequate understanding.

AI is not a new term – in fact, it has been around for many years, although, with recent advancements in technology there has been a resurgence of discussion around AI which is gathering momentum and creating a buzz. AI is now being mentioned constantly in mainstream media and it seems every Vendor is jumping on the AI bandwagon.

Understanding the history of AI is a step towards understanding how it is being implemented now to advance technology offerings.

For many of us, having watched Sci-Fi movies, AI potentially creates a picture of intelligent, life-like machines (such as the Robot in Lost in Space, M3-G9 G.U.N.T.E.R, or R2D2 or C3PO from Star Wars). The fact is, this type of intuitive intelligence may still be a while off but understanding where it all started shows we have made significant progress in a very short period.
